Home First provides permanent supportive housing for homeless adults who have experienced prolonged episodes of homelessness, have at least one disabling condition and possess other challenges that can contribute to difficulty housing them. Tenants of Home First are placed into a permanent home – through one-bedroom apartments or four-bedroom homes – and provided with wraparound services to ensure that they remain housed.
Services/Facilities include:
- Subsidized housing
- Intensive case management
- Life skills training
- Fully furnished living units
- Recreational/social activities
- Off-site psychiatric rehabilitation services through Threshold Services
The Coalition established Home First in FY2007 through a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development grant and matching county funds. Home First will expand in 2008 to serve 22 chronically homeless adults.
