Home First provides permanent supportive housing for homeless adults who have experienced prolonged episodes of homelessness, have a chronic mental illness, and possess other challenges that can contribute to difficulty housing them. Residents of Home First are placed into a permanent home – through one-bedroom apartments or four-bedroom homes – and provided with wraparound services to ensure that they remain housed.
Services/Facilities include:
- Subsidized housing
- Intensive case management
- Life skills training
- Fully furnished living units
- Recreational/social activities
- Off-site psychiatric rehabilitation services through community providers
The Coalition established Home First in FY2007 through a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development grant and matching county funds. It was expanded in 2008 and then again in 2010, and now serves 30 individuals.
